Visit by the Constitutional Affairs Committee

A delegation from the Constitutional Affairs Committee - Chamber of Deputies, of the Parliament of the Czech Republic visited Malta on the 1st February 2004.

This delegation was headed by the Hon. Vlasta Parkonova and was accompanied by H.E. Mr Libor Secka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Malta.

During their visit to Malta, the Czech Parliamentary Delegation held a meeting with the Hon. Dr Tonio Borg, Minister of Justice & Home Affairs, and the Hon. Dr Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici, Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Justice & Home Affairs.

During the meeting the two delegations exchanged views on current issues relating to illegal immigrants, detention and membership to the European Union. Both sides agreed that more co-operation is important, especially now that as partners in the EU, both countries should get to know each other better.

The meeting was also attended by H.E. Libor Secka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Malta and Tonio Casapinta, Honorary Consul.
